Colour Picker

6 January 2006

XUL has a great colorpicker widget. In Mozilla it gives the user a grid of 70 colours to choose from. This seems about right for most applications, a dropdown list of a dozen is too restrictive, and a 3D gradient of 2563 is off putting to most users.

HTML doesn't have any such widget. I needed a bunch of them for a preferences dialog on Moo Canada's AJAX client. A scan of the net turned up lots of Java applets, but no solid DHTML equivalents. So I made one.

While I was testing it in six different browsers, I noticed my dock was meowing at me -- ransom note style:
Mozilla, Internet Explorer, Opera, Microsoft Word
