Holes

11 November 2014

Quynh and I were eating dinner in Munich and saw pedestrians stopping to take photos of a hole in the sidewalk.

A few minutes later a pair of police officers showed up. They measured the size of the hole with a ruler, then stood guard.

Shortly afterwards a firetruck appeared and the fire department took control of the scene.

They erected a temporary barricade.

By the time the pedestrians in the first photo returned, the incident had been contained.

Sometime during the night the hole was fixed. Germans being stereotypically German.

Meanwhile, back in the US, this sewer grate collapsed.

The bus I was riding was damaged when a wheel fell in while picking up passengers.

The next day the grate was still open (or had collapsed again).
