"You are worth your weight in gold."

I was recently on the receiving end of this statement, and wondered what it actually meant. Back of the envelope calculations didn't look encouraging, so I did the full work-up. Fill in the blanks as you go:

Worth Calculator I weigh which is oz. The current value of gold is $(US)/oz[?]. Therefore if I'm worth my weight in gold, then my worth in is . If invested at % above inflation, then that makes me worth /year in interest alone. Amortising[?] the net worth over the average lifetime working career of hours, makes me worth /hour.

Apparently people think I'm worth £6.95/hour, or about half the average wage in the UK[?]. Gee, thanks.
