Polyglot 4: Euphoria

4 September 2004

[Euphoria] Fourth is Euphoria. Like Perl, Euphoria taps into the GD to do the actual image manipulation. Euphoria is an interesting language in that it is clean and simple. Neither too strict, nor too loose, Euphoria seems to hit the nail on the head when it comes to a good light-weight language. But every time I use it, something appears that reminds me that it isn't quite ready for prime-time. On this occasion I noticed that in the default install in Linux left most of the files world-writable. The developers responded "Thanks, I'll try to keep that in mind for the next release" (which are yearly). That inspires confidence.

Here's the Euphoria source code.
