Think back to when Covid-19 first appeared. Suddenly one could not buy masks, hand sanitizer, or toilet paper. Yet just a day earlier those were nothing items. This got me wondering, what other relatively inconsequential items could likewise become immensely sought after without warning? After some thought I ordered a cheap Geiger counter from AliExpress. It arrived just as the Ukraine war started.
It's been fun to play with. So far I have not found any radioactive sources around my home or office. But it did get a workout during an airplane trip.
It turns out that the TSA get really interested in passengers who bring a Geiger counter onto a plane.
